The project explores the cultural legacy of protest music and singer-songwriter traditions that emerged in the Visegrad countries during the state-socialist period, when music often became a coded language of resistance, personal freedom and civic courage. The project focuses the legacy of countercultural “modern bards”, such as Cseh Tamás, Karel Kryl, Jacek Kleyff and Zuzana Homolová. It aims to make this fragmented historical heritage more accessible and meaningful for younger generations by connecting historical memory with contemporary creativity, non-formal learning and democratic reflection. By presenting shared regional experiences alongside national differences, the project strengthens mutual understanding, cultural identity and dialogue across the Visegrad region, while encouraging young people to reflect on censorship, freedom of expression, social responsibility and the continuing relevance of artistic resistance today.
